Are you protecting your plant with pre-treatment oxidation?

In many plants, oxidant is dosed based on jar tests and seasonal adjustments. If raw water quality unexpectedly improves, it can lead to permanganate overspend. Conversely, under-dosing leads to diminished sedimentation efficiency, shorter filter run times, and lower quality product. Determining the precise amount you need depends on particle charge, pH, temperature, alkalinity, hardness, turbidity, organic content, and mixing speed, factors that are always in flux.

Hach’s RTC-PREOX Software uses feed forward and feedback control loops to calculate oxidant dosing rates in the pre-treatment process and efficiently remove manganese, iron and organics from your raw water. The feed forward model is based on continuously maintaining a constant ratio of oxidant to concentrations of manganese, iron and organics in your source intake. The feedback trim modifies the specific dosing ratio for oxidant based on the respective concentration measured in the clear water effluent. Using input of raw water parameters and historical data, RTC-PREOX adopts an oxidation strategy that mimics your current operation.

Claros Process Management solutions for source water pre-treatment like RTC-PREOX are designed to make the most of your plant’s real-world conditions by transforming every uncertainty into an opportunity for measurement, responsive action, and savings.
